Tuesday, Dec. 18th – Christmas Pollyanna
Drawing/Green and Red Dress up/No Polo Day

Sorry if this is a little late... that's tomorrow, also the Pollyanna day.

This is the post for task seven... and I support the cause of the website challenge? Does that work? The other tag I picked was support, haha.

Originally, the tasks were posted as events on the calendar, mostly on Fridays. The schedule has gotten a little fouled up.

To put your avatar up on your profile, go to 'My Acount' under the tab that has your name. Then click on the 'Edit' tab.

When reading their cgade.org email, students must login using their full email address in lower case as the user name. Their email passwords (which are different from their website) passwords were sent to the parents and given out on Tuesday.

The lower case requirement baffled me because Internet email addresses are NOT case sensitive. However, at the moment they login to webmail, the address is serving as a login name which in this case appears to be strict about case. All accounts are setup as lower case.

Welcome to 7 new student challengers who took advantage of "office hours" to clear up their questions about logging into the site.

In a personal interview, Gandalf, the technical support for the City Gates Academy Website, said "We are aiming for 100% student participation in the website. CGA exists for these students. The website community platform is ideally suited to facilitate communication and enrich the student experience."

The first meeting of the CGA computer club will be held at the same time / same place as the Parent teacher meeting on Oct 30th. I am updating the agenda a bit.

A new organic group has been added for those students taking the website challenge. The students who have already indicated an interest and/or have completed the first challenge task "Get Connected" have been added to the group. Other students and parents are free to join from the page at

http://cgade.org/og

There is still plenty of time for all students to join. Any students who still need assistance getting connected should use the contact tab http://cgade.org/contact for account assistance or contact M. Fersch or Gandalf

Help with student mail.

This information is for students using mail accounts provided by cgade.org. You have 2 options for getting you mail using a web interface. All require you to put in your full email address ( for example: t.student@cgade.org ALL LOWER CASE) and your email password.

Remember, your email password is different from your website password. Your email password was sent to your parents in a student info email. If you need another copy, use the contact tab to request account support.

There still seems to be much confusion among students and their parents about how to get on for the first time. I am sorry for being unclear. Let me try again and make it very simple.

Squirrel Mail

Horde

http://74.220.207.161:2095/horde/index.php

Enter your user name in the format T.Student@cgade.org and login password for your email.

Note the student email passwords can only be changed by Artemis or Gandalf.

A very quick and simple way to access most POP email accounts including the cgade.org student email accounts in the mail2web site

http://www.mail2web.com/

It a no frills method. does not store contacts or history but is nice because it works from any computer and besides you account name and password, theres nothing to remember.

Try it!
